Danville-Designed Battery Passes DRGP Kart Test |
|
|
DANVILLE, VA (February 9, 2012) – On Thursday, LiFeBatt USA in Danville tested a prototype battery pack on an electric go-kart inside Dan River Grand Prix on Riverside Drive. LiFeBatt CEO Don Harmon and Chief Operating Officer Michelle Robinson seized the chance to test the 64-cell, 48-volt lithium iron phosphate battery pack on an actual vehicle rather than just in the laboratory. "It's more exciting because the go kart goes around curves," Robinson said. The battery pack will head to Volvo in Sweden for evaluation, she added. LiFeBatt got its foot in the door with Volvo through the company's new European distributor, Toyota Tsusho Europe. In December, LiFeBatt signed a sales and distribution agreement with Toyota Tsusho Europe, which is part of Toyota Tsusho Corp., the only trading company of Toyota Motor Group. For the Volvo prototype, EIT South in Danville made the battery case and mounted the LiFeBatt circuit board inside, Harmon said. The company anticipates using Dan River Grand Prix for future testing. DANVILLE, VA (July 15, 2011) – VIR Kart Track and Dan River Grand Prix collaborate to offer the best outdoor AND indoor karting in the region. Both tracks have agreed to recognize each other's member cards and give member pricing as if the membership had been purchased with them. When a VIR Karting Member comes to race at Dan River Grand Prix, they receive member pricing and perks just as if they had purchased a DRGP membership – including things like 10% discounts on drinks, snacks and other merchandise. Dan River Grand Prix Members will likewise receive the normal perks and rates of VIR Kart Track Members when driving at VIR — and a one-time 15 minute free ride. Director of VIR Kart Track, Patrick Eagan stated, "VIR Kart Track is very happy to announce our joint membership program with Dan River Grand Prix. It's a great way for indoor karting enthusiasts and beginners to get a feel for the faster outdoor karting experience and vise versa. VIR Kart Track has some very fast and talented drivers who are looking forward to the indoor experience during our hotter summer days." "We are very excited to be working with VIR, one of America's greatest road racing facilities. By recognizing each other's members, VIR and DRGP will be giving our local karting community a lot of kart racing options," said Ken Grammer, co-owner of DRGP.
